  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 15 ounces cherry pie filling
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract vanilla extract can be used as an alternative
  • 2 cups Cool Whip whipped topping
  • 12 maraschino cherries for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9"x13" casserole dish and set it aside. In a medium bowl, combine the white cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and almond extract. Beat the mixture for about 2 minutes until it is well blended and fluffy. Pour the batter into the prepared casserole dish and spread it evenly using the back of a spoon. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely. Once cooled, spread an even layer of Cool Whip over the top. Arrange the 12 maraschino cherries in a grid pattern on the surface to mark the servings.
