Ingredients

  • ½ cup hot water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 2 hibiscus tea bags
  • 1 cup ice
  • ¼ cup strawberry syrup

Instructions

  • Place hibiscus tea bags and ½ cup of hot water into a teapot. Boil water on the stovetop or use an electric kettle set to 195°F. Cover and steep for 5 minutes, then discard the tea bags. For a stronger flavor, hibiscus tea can be steeped longer. Add ½ cup of cold water and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Pour the iced tea into a cup filled with ice and add the strawberry syrup. Stir to combine.

Notes

Tea bags or tea sachets are recommended here for easy disposal. Loose hibiscus offers higher quality due to larger pieces but requires straining, which can be messy. Both store-bought and homemade strawberry syrup are suitable options. To help the tea cool quickly, avoid using boiling water; instead, use water that has been simmered. It’s important to purchase hibiscus that is safe for consumption and free from pesticides. Strawberry hibiscus iced tea can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
