Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb salmon skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons chopped chives

Instructions

  • Pat the salmon cubes dry with a paper towel and season them with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle about a tablespoon of oil over the salmon and massage the seasoning into the cubes.
  • Heat a heavy skillet with a tablespoon of oil, then add the salmon cubes in a single layer. Cook for 4-5 minutes, flipping them often, until they are crispy and golden. Transfer the cooked salmon cubes to a plate and cook the remaining salmon.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining oil, then sauté the garlic and ginger for about a minute.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey, and let the sauce simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing it to thicken.
  • Return the crispy salmon to the skillet and toss well to coat it with the sauce. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
  • Serve the salmon bites over rice and enjoy.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
Cut the salmon into evenly sized cubes for consistent cooking.
Gently toss the salmon with the seasoning mix, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper to the seasoning blend.
If possible, let the salmon marinate in the seasoning for 30 minutes to an hour.
For the best flavor, use fresh garlic.
This recipe can easily be made in the air fryer—preheat to 390°F and cook for 7-9 minutes, flipping halfway through.
You can also use cubes of chicken or shrimp in place of the salmon, adjusting the cooking time as needed.
