Ingredients

Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

  • ▢ ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ▢ 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Cream Cheese Filling

  • ▢ 2 packages 8 ounces each cream cheese, softened
  • ▢ ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ▢ 1 large egg
  • ▢ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Crust

  • ▢ 2 cans 8 ounces each refrigerated crescent dough sheets (such as Pillsbury)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a small bowl, mix together ½ cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon; set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Continue beating until the mixture is smooth and creamy; set aside.
  • Lightly coat a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray, then evenly sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the bottom of the pan.
  • Carefully unroll one can of crescent dough and place it in the pan over the cinnamon sugar layer. Trim about an inch off each side so the dough fits neatly.
  • Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the dough layer.
  • Unroll the second can of crescent dough, trim the long sides slightly, and gently lay it over the cream cheese layer.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  • Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown.

Notes

Recipe Tips:
If crescent dough sheets aren’t available, you can use regular crescent roll dough—just make sure to pinch the seams together so it forms a solid sheet.
For a silky smooth filling, use room-temperature cream cheese and eggs when mixing.
Stick with the classic cinnamon and sugar combo to maintain that iconic churro flavor, though you can experiment with other warm spices if desired.
Storage: After the churro bars have cooled completely, cover and refrigerate them for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap them tightly and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, thaw in the refrigerator.
